Detailed collars are a favorite accessory of mine for fall! I’ve already studded a denim shirt (watch here) and now I am in the process of another awesome DIY project of a beaded/studded detachable collar! Jewel Tones – Fall 2011

I am very excited to see that each year Fall keeps getting brighter and brighter. I hated the years when this season was dark and gloomy! Whether it is throwing a bright jewel tone colored purse over your shoulder, or being risky and wearing brightly colored pants or skirts, or wearing a bright colored top under your blazer, Fall has finally come to terms with color and not just blacks and browns!  Don’t hesitate to wear color this season! Last season was stripes, this season it’s polka dots!! Seen on the runways of L.A.M.B., Stella McCartney, DVF, Marc Jacobs and Dolce & Gabbana, you can’t get away without spots this season!   Christina Aguilera and Olivia Wilde show off their spots in black and white.  Where to find this print at a reasonable price?

The Cape has to be the hottest Fall jacket trend of 2011! They’re all about comfort and style, and great for windy days.  Layer them on top of sweaters for the preppy yet comfy change from the classic trench.  Hot designers like Chanel, DKNY, Dior, Rag & Bone all have the cape featured in their Fall 2011 collections.  Celebs like Jessica Simpson, Natalie Portman, and Blake Lively have all been spotted wearing capes!

Maxi dresses are a HUGE hit this season. We’ve seen the hottest celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Eva Longoria, Nicole Richie and Gwen Stefani all wearing the maxi dress this season.  Be sure to find the perfect fit for your body type! There are TONS of maxi’s out there!

For a more flirty night out try H&M’s floral print maxi dress, or the lightweight daytime chiffon 3 tiered maxi from Topshop, or try something like Kim Kardashian is wearing, a thin striped black and white maxi from J.Crew.

Pleated Skirts 2011

Who doesn’t love to feel outrageously girly?? I know I do! This is why I love this season’s hottest skirt trend – the pleated skirt! Look at how elegant, comfortable, and girly Olivia Palermo looks on a casual summer’s day in NYC!  Maxi or midri, the pleated skirt looks great paired with any style of top on any type of occasion!

Check out Mango’s retro, high-waist midi accordion pleat skirt, or even the coral maxi skirt from Top Shop. One of my favorites has to be the maxi American Apparel cobalt blue pleated skirt. It is extremely elegant and yet still fun and girly!

During these hot summer days we have been having, who wants something that clings to their body? The pleated skirt is not only a hot trend this season it’s also lightweight and cling free! Something every fashionista wants!

Rachel Bilson and Halle Berry look drop dead GORGEOUS in anything that they wear, especially in shorts!
