Cityline: Black in the Summer

Cityline: Black in the Summer

Hey Babes! As most of you know, two weeks ago I filmed a segment on Cityline on How to Wear Black in the Summer. The episode finally aired this morning, {ICYMI: you can watch here} and for those who missed it, here is a quick recap of what we talked about!

Cityline
Outfit # 1: Bold Colours & Prints + Black Leather Jacket
Skirt: Topshop
Shirt: Topshop
Leather Jacket: Topshop
Shoes: Topshop
Accessories: Topshop

This first look is perfect for a summer night out because of the bright colours and print of the skirt and top. Whenever someone thinks Summer, leather jackets may not always come to mind, but by pairing the black with a bright outfit and bold accessories on a cool summer night, it is a great way to bring that fall jacket out of your closet and use it year round. The chunky shoes are also a great way to turn black into a summer colour because the open toe and straps make it a summer sandal and easy to match with any outfit!

Outfit # 2: Black & White Stripes
Dress: Tristan
Shoes: Birkenstock
Accessories: Tristan

This outfit was put together to show an easy, on the go look for someone who is constantly running errands or going to meetings, like my intern. The dress from Tristan has both black and white stripes, making it more of a summer alternative than just solid black. I fell in love when I saw the white Birkenstocks because who would’ve thought such a casual shoe would go so well with this dress. The white leather complimented the look so well and is the perfect shoe to run around in on a summer day. Pairing this look with a bright coloured lip as shown is another easy way to make the outfit summer ready and makes it easy to turn this look from day into night by just throwing your hair up and putting on a pair of heels.

Outfit # 3: All Black
Jumpsuit: Loft
Clutch: Loft
Accessories: Loft

This solid black look is meant for a girl who is in the office all day but who may be going out after work or attending other important events. Now I know most would think a solid black suit doesn’t shout Summer but in this look, it is all about the material. The light chiffon makes it okay to wear all black because it isn’t too heavy. Accessorizing with bright necklaces is also key as it allows to look to have a pop of colour yet still be professional with the all black.
